Did you know… FatHeadDog hasn’t paid for a magazine subscription in years? Through various sample and sponsored subscription sites, you can pick up some great finds of free magazine subscriptions. How does it work? The simple answer is free “sample” equals more exposure to new audiences who may convert their sample into a paid subscription.

The offers change frequently, but here’s some links for free newsstand magazine subscriptions. There’s alot of magazine titles you may not have heard of, but here are some popular ones to start off your free magazine subscription stash:

Rewards Gold is a survey site that offers free one year subscription to popular magazine for completing targeted surveys. The ad link looks a little “splashy” but its legit. Just signup, complete the survey and they’ll offer one- or two-year subscriptions to various newsstand magazines as a reward:

A similar premise, FreeBizMags, offers sponsored subscriptions to various magazines. These ask you a series of questions about what industry you’re in, and depending on your responses, you may select a premium magazine subscription offer. Here’s the rub–you don’t always qualify, and instead are offered a free trade magazine. Tip: unless you really want the trade journal, don’t bother signing up for it. Current offers include:

Babies R Us is pretty generous with coupons in its mailed home circulars (signup in store for their mailing list), but there are usually exceptions–diapers and formula. Well, once you’ve built your stash of onesies, bottles, sippy cups, stroller, car seat and all the other essentials, what’s left to buy at Babies R Us–diapers and formula! This $5 off $25 coupon luckily does not include those exceptions! Your best bet is to “stack” this xx dollar off total amount coupon with manufacturers coupons.

While you’re in store or online, sign up for Rewards R Us. You’ll receive a $5 reward for every $150 you spend total during certain two or three month promotion periods. The current promotion period runs February 1 through April 30. The thing that makes FatHeadDog want to bang her head against the wall is that your spending totals don’t carry over into the next period. So if you’re just short of your $150 total, buy something to bring you to your total. Frustrating, I know. Rewards R Us also tallies your purchase of certain brands, such as Huggies, Pampers and Nestle Good Start Formula and offers Buy 9 Get 1 Free.

Free 5 Issue Subscription to Mine Magazine, a hybrid publishing project from Time Inc.

Time Inc. is experimenting with a customized magazine that combines reader-selected sections from eight publications as it tries to mimic in printed form the personalized news feeds that have become popular with online news consumers. A 5-issue subscription magazine is free and sponsored by Lexus, but the print edition is limited to the first 31,000 respondents, while an online version is available for another 200,000.

Readers can select five titles from eight published by subsidiaries of Time Warner Inc. and American Express Co.:

How to: Sign Up for the CVS Extra Care Card

The first step to reaping great drugstore deals is signing up for their customer loyalty programs. FatHeadDog’s favorite is the CVS Extra Care program.

Step 1: Sign up for your ExtraCare Card.

This can be done on CVS.com, or you may sign up in a store. Your best bet is to do it in a store so you can begin using your card immediately. If you choose to sign up online, it will take approximately two weeks to receive your card.

Step 2: Study the weekly circulars.

You can pick up a weekly ad in the store or find it in Sunday’s newspaper. You can find highlights of the weekly and monthly store ads on SlickDeals.net. Click on Forums, then Drugstore/Grocery Forum and you’ll find a listing of current weekly ads for CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid. Tip: You’ll even find ads for the weeks ahead, so you can “study” upcoming deal scenarios.

Step 3: Pick your Extra Buck scenarios.

The most lucrative offers are usually the ones that are already free after ExtraCare Bucks (ECBs). Second best are ECB deals that give you at least 50 percent return for your money. For example, buy $20 worth of Aveeno products and get $10 back in Extra Bucks. With coupons, you can sometimes “break even” by spending $10 and getting $10 ECBs.

Step 4: Go shopping!

The best way to use your Extra Bucks is by purchasing more items that produce Extra Bucks. This is what drugstore pros call “rolling” your ECBs. Using this strategy, you’ll always have a stash of Extra Bucks to save you money on your total out-of-pocket expense.

How to Get Free Excedrin at CVS

Nuprin is pretty scarce around these days but here’s a printable coupon for $2off select Excedrin pain relief. This week at CVS, the 24 count are on sale for $1.99. Hand over the $2off coupon and the kind associate will “adjust the coupon down” to $1.99. That’s the easiest free product you’ll ever pick up.
