How to Earn Free Gift Cards from

If you’ve already finished your copy of Fifty Shades of Grey, consider selling it to for free Amazon credit and gift cards. I’ve used Amazon’s textbook buyback–which is open to all books, not just textbooks–dozens of times and it’s worked great every time. Here’s the how-to:

1. Visit Amazon’s textbook buyback page and enter your book’s ISBN number, often found on the back cover near the barcode.

2. If Amazon is buying the book, it’ll show you the Trade-In Value. If it’s not (for example, if it’s not in demand, too old, a select paperback or sometimes self-published), it’ll say Did Not Match Any Products.

3. When you’re done entering books, click Submit and Select a Shipping Method–best methods are UPS via pre-paid label or USPS. Package your books in a box, adhere the shipping label to the outside, and voila!

4. In about 2-3 weeks, your Amazon credit will automatically be deposited into your textbook buyback account.

I’m a Salty Dog

The FatHeadDog has been known to eat the contents of her desk drawer for lunch. Not file folders, but granola bars, ramen noodles, hot sauce packets and any random candy found leftover in a candy dish. Saves time AND money, right? My doctor thinks otherwise.

High blood pressure schmlod pressure. And the killer is, I’d just snapped up these economical (cheap-ass) staples for lunch. 50 cents for lunch! (I’m not promoting gross sodium consumption–1,170 mg of sodium–but come on, a 12-pack of Hot & Spicy Shrimp ramen for $6.81 with the 15% subscribe and save discount!)

So, because I can’t eat these yummy little fake food containers of goodness, I’ll pass along the salty details to you. Just don’t tell your doctor that FatHeadDog sent you.

The Link I Always Forget on coupon book e-couponsFor reasons that escape me, I can never find the darn Amazon Coupon Book with e-coupons on There’s not a nav link or easy URL to remember. I’m not a navigation doofus, but really.. its a big 404 error to me. So for mostly my sake and hopefully for your convenience, here is the link to the Amazon Coupon Book.

Right now there are two valuable Pampers eCoupons available, $3/1 Pampers Cruisers or Swaddlers Box or $1.50/1 Pampers Diapers or Pants. If you don’t see them, try refreshing.

Free gift cards with Swagbucks search

My office “neighbor” and I shout most things across our cubicle walls–meeting times, web content updates or the status of the donut table– but tips about the search-and-win site Swagbucks were always whispered. “Pss, there’s a Swagcode worth 11 bucks…”

You earn “Swagbucks” for searches performed on their site (as opposed to searching on Google). Points range from 7 to 20 “bucks” earned. You can redeem for tons of different prizes, but the best value, by far, is the $5 gift card for 450 bucks. Essentially free bucks for free gift cards.

Tips for Winning Swagbucks

  • Perform your searches approximately three to four times a day, several hours apart. I search first thing in the morning, after lunch, late afternoon and in the evening, earning about 7 to 10 bucks each.
  • Once you win bucks from a search, its fairly unlikely you’ll hit it again in a consecutive search, so you can save your next search for a few hours later.
  • When searching, try related terms to the original you searched, and click through all the pages of results. Also, you can try searching photos or videos for the same term. To me at least, it seems searching “deep” wins better results than searching “shallow” with dozens of unrelated terms (which, by the way, can penalize you if Swagbucks thinks you’re not performing “natural searches”).
  • Share the site with others who might like it, too and you’ll receive matching points for what they earn. That can make earning free gift cards easier and faster than ever. Click here to sign up for
  • Why ‘Love Coupons’ Are Lame and What You Should Buy Instead

Do you have 15 friends? I don’t.. I mean, I’m a fathead dog. I don’t get out much. But if you’re of the two-leg variety, just round up 15 friends who’d like and you’ll get an easy $25 Amazon GC.

sculpted jewelry is a cool gift browsing site and social community. Users suggest their best gift ideas (for a current contest, if your gift idea is voted best, you’ll win a $500 Amazon GC) and vote–helping sort out the great gifts, like this sculpted jewelry tree from the lame ones, like “love coupons” (Sorry guys, they really are lame).

No purchase necessary on their part, just a confirmed email address. Referral contest runs until Dec. 15. I like that tree.
