MSN Money “20 Freebies for Your Birthday” wisely recommends verifying your freebie first, but there’s some long-running, widely known freebies you can’t go wrong with:

Kids enrolled in the Denny’s Birthday Club will receive a birthday card entitling them to a free kids meal and sundae at a participating Denny’s restaurant as long as they’re with an adult paying for a regular-priced adult entrée.
Geoffrey’s Birthday Club at Toys R Us: Free gift card and birthday card for ages 10 and under; kids who visit a store can collect a crown and a balloon and hear birthday wishes over the store’s loudspeaker. Parents get a $5 Toys R Us coupon in advance of the birthday. Click here to register.
DSWRewards: This program for shoes includes a “$5 off any purchase” certificate on your birthday. Register here.
Sephora: The birthday gift varies from year to year, but it may be bath products, cosmetics or skin-care items. Create an account with the store’s Beauty Insider program and you are automatically registered for a gift.
Baskin-Robbins: free 2.5-ounce scoop on your birthday; good for one week before and one week after birthday. Sign up here.

Bath & Body Works is now offering coupons via text message. DealSeekingMom reports an example of such texts: THIS WKND ONLY: Don’t 4get Mom! FREE Fragrance Mist w/purch (1/Trans) Valid thru 5/10/09@BBW stores invalid at Outlet. Fwd it on!

Of course standard text messaging rates will apply, but this is a way to save on printer ink and always have your coupons available! Just show the cashier your text message on your phone during your transaction, and he or she will apply the discount. You must show the text message and corresponding “auth code” to use the coupon.

In other Bath and Body Works news, the big Semi-Annual Sale is slated to begin June 1, with up to 75% off select items. During these clearance sales, be on the lookout for discontinued products and glycerin soaps for only $1.
